Meeting Etiquette for the AI Age

When every meeting is recorded, what changes about how we show up? A practical guide for teams on Metrik.

Ten years ago, 'can I take notes?' was the opening line of every meeting. Today, the recording bot is already in the room, and the question has changed: what does it mean to have every conversation on the record?

First, disclosure is non-negotiable. Metrik shows a persistent recording indicator in the meeting UI and announces on join. Teams should still say it out loud — transparency builds trust, and trust is what makes candid conversations possible.

Second, the record changes the meeting itself. When decisions are captured and searchable, people stop re-asking 'what did we decide?' — the meeting's output outlives the meeting.

Third, be specific about promises. Vague language doesn't survive a transcript. Teams with recorded meetings naturally migrate to concrete asks: names, verbs, dates.

Finally, the record is not the verdict. Transcripts capture what was said, not why. Good summaries include context; good teams review summaries weekly rather than policing quotes.

Meetings become more valuable when they're durable. The etiquette isn't about performing for the record — it's about being worth recording.
